Here are some common reasons why people reach out to exercise specialists:

  • Youre not seeing results, a plateau
  • You’ve lost ‘connection’ with your body and have no idea where to start
  • Youre bored with the same workouts and want something really different
  • You need to be challenged
  • You can’t do some exercises (eg: chin up) and have no idea how to work your way up to doing them
  • You can’t do some exercises because the movement causes pain or discomfort
  • You want to learn how to exercise on your own
  • You have a specific illness, injury or condition that needs conditioning or rehabilitation
  • Youre training for a specific purpose such as a fun run, weight loss, sport or hobby
  • You’ve invested in home exercise equipment and want to learn how to use it correctly, or perhaps you need advice on what equipment to purchase
  • You want to learn how to achieve results without joining a gym or having to purchase equipment
  • You want to exercise at home and have me bring the equipment
  • You want to know how to correctly perform an exercise movement
  • You need some general nutritional advice
  • Goal setting - specific, measurable and attainable. Plus, someone to keep you accountable and motivated to achieve them

Things you may not have considered:

  • PT’s will identify functional movement issues youre not even aware of! Bad biomechanics are a HABIT. What’s even worse is we are generally not aware of our habitsTogether, we will identify and correct poor biomechanics and you will learn to free your body through joint mobilisation and muscle activation. Remember, poor biomechanics is not a technique thing, its a habit, usually a life long one
  • PT's are educators - you will learn. A LOT! You will receive an education on health, fitness, exercise and your own body. And you can continue to apply this new-found knowledge forever
  • You do not necessarily need to hire a personal trainer on an ongoing basis. Often its enough to just do a few sessions, formulate and thoroughly understand the what, why and how of your exercise plan
  • PTs are life coaches - we go well beyond exercise prescription. We will find out what motivates you, identify obstacles that get in the way of your goals and come up with a plan for how to deal with those obstacles before they even occur
  • PT’s can help you keep moving forward through obstacles such as injury or what to do when you go on holiday
  • PTs can identify lifestyle risks and integrate prehab into your routine to reduce long-term health risks
  • A session with a PT does not have to involve dripping with sweat, gasping for air or vomiting from lactic acid buildup in order to achieve phenomenal results
  • PT's are motivational speakers - the first easy reps of any set is not training, its doing what your body is already capable of. The training portion begins at the point when you want to quit. Improvements come from the effort exerted doing things you cant already do. We make sure you push to your limit, far in excess of what you would do alone (safely), which ensures maximum progress. Youre welcome!
  • Most of my work as a PT does NOT involve improving physical aesthetics or beating your PB. Its overcoming physical barriers that limit or stop you achieving and living a life that is fun and inspiring
  • You can bring your friend, spouse, children or parents to the session and make it social. Plus, you get to split the bill ;)
  • For every hour I spend with you face-to-face, I will probably dedicate 1-2 hours of my time working on aspects of your health, fitness and lifestyle program
  • Within a short time, you can cut the standard one-hour sessions in half if youre comfortable and disciplined enough to attend to pre- and post- training movements (think warmup and cooldown). This leaves us with an intense 30 minute window to achieve amazing results

NOTE: Anyone can beat you with exercises and make you sore, but it takes an intelligent professional to build a program that plans ahead; develops aspects of fitness like strength, conditioning, and mobility; and gets people great results, SAFELY. A good trainer will already know what they want you to accomplish this week, next week, and even as far as next month as well as the exact steps to get there.
